Is being good enough?

When asked if you know if you’ll go to heaven, a lot of people answer “Well, I’m a good person so I hope so.” But the fact is, we can NEVER be good enough. Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” ALL. And in reading earlier in Romans 3 (10-18), we have a clear picture of what sin is in our lives. Romans 6:23 shows the consequences of that sin – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

But God LOVES us and wants all of us to know His abiding and enduring love. So much so that He sent His only Son Jesus to die for those sins and to take our consequence upon Himself so that we could have life everlasting. Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” He just asks that we believe. “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9-10) “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

Romans 8:38-39 shows us the depth of that sacrifice “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

If you would like to become a Christian, here is a simple prayer you can pray to God. Just saying these words will not save you but believing in your heart and declaring to God that you know you are a sinner that needs a savior, you repent of those sins and you know that you can’t do it yourself – the ONLY way is a relationship with Jesus Christ and relying on Him for that salvation.  It is the faith in Jesus Christ provides salvation!
